Poetry that Responds // New Poem!

Due to the Covid-19 quarantine in Ohio, the Ekphrastacy April 2020 event at Heights Arts in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, was cancelled. Fortunately the staff at HA got together and had us poets record our poems for a virtual ekphrastacy!

My poem “Invisible Storm” is up on Heights Arts’ website. It was inspired by “Black Horse” by Jean Hoffman.

Snow Season

You’ve all heard it before from some relative or friend: planning a wedding takes up all of your time. It’s true. I neglected creative work for my wedding. Not a terrible thing, because I am so happy to be married to my best friend and to have had a stellar party as we celebrated! But, I did neglect writing. The itch of my writer’s brain didn’t seem to mind either. Perhaps that’s because I placated him with monthly writing meetings–a poetry support group. We are the best poetry support group. And it is with them that I was able to accomplish something I haven’t done in almost two years: submit my manuscript.

That’s right folks, a full length collection of my work is out shopping for a home! Wish me/it/my poems luck.

Prompts

Happy National Poetry Month

Happy National Poetry Month, everyone!

Our Ohio April rang in with snow still on the ground, but that doesn’t stop me from being so grateful for this month! Not only does it bring in spring flowers and bright colors, but we get to talk about poetry! Just like last year I will be completing a prompt-a-day to commemorate April 2019, and I will share my prompts/inspirations with you in another post. So keep coming back to stay updated!
