Children’s Poem

April 2, poetry for children. I’m sharing four books that I love and that I’ve used when teaching creative writing to little ones. Classic poets like Emily Dickinson and Langston Hughes are worthwhile for children especially in these beautifully illustrated editions. And The Word Collector by Peter Reynolds is inspiring for kids to start finding words they like (and works well with magnet poetry lessons). And finally A Kick in the Head: An Everyday Guide to Poetic Forms by Paul B. Janeczko is great for reading aloud and introducing structure to more serious little writers. I love each of these books and am sharing my favorite pages from them too!
